Yep, I'm starting to be more and more against tasers ever day. Guns just work much better and when used the intention is to kill. I don't think Tasers are going anywhere for a while, not with these Long Range Tasers waiting in the works. And these have a "20 second high voltage discharge". The real problem with these so called "non-lethal" munitions and weapons, is the mindset it creates with some police. It seems to create the illusion for them that they can use these without permanently harming the individual, without even leaving marks. Whereas the reality is, as with any weapon, harm can be done, like the batons police carry. I have seen videos and heard stories, where police actually beat people unconscious with them, and worse. ... A little mental health screening for stability would be nice. Some police departments have had such programs but with all the budget cuts, it's unlikely that we'll see more of them. Also, due to the mentality of expedience, local governments find it cheaper to arm police with TASERs rather than give them proper training and emotional support. |
