They are the most abundant of all insects, and play a valuable part in the breakdown of organic matter in the soil, and soil aeration. The varieties extend across the world, being active in the summer, and breeding and dying as the weather cools. The last picture of the Green beetle unlabeled is an example of a Stink beetle, which is a Ground beetle, or carab. There are over 963,000 species of insects and myriapods (those being centipedes and millipedes), with slightly less than 350,000 of those belonging to the beetle group. Beetles rule. Beetles are ace. I found a shield bug in my yard during the summer, and it had the most amazing colours on its wing casing. |
