This is the saddest document I've read in some time, the King's essay. He made some very strong points, bringing to mind current hot buttons: U.S. native Americans and "illegal immigrants." I also wondered how many Jews, after 1945, did get into the U.S or Britain. I've just spent about two hours on the Net and couldn't find an answer. But did find interesting material to help fill my woeful ignorance of the history of that part of the world's suffering.

Thanks Arifsali for the great clip and also thanks to wisedriver for excellent comment and additional links.

I recommend the great Jewish artist Will Eisner's books to get a very impressive view of Jewish immigrants' situation in the U.S. (especially in New York) in the first half of the 20th century, and the horrible wave of antisemitism in America during those years. I'll search for the web for Eisner's brilliant works and if I'll find some, I'll clip them.
