People who accuse you of lying without checking the facts are idiots and should be ignored. That said, you are to be congratulated on your achievement and perseverance. For myself, I could care less if you are a Phd or a high school dropout (I have known both geniuses and morons in each category). If you have something interesting or intelligent to say, I want to hear it.

Social work and psych make an interesting combination, I'd think. I think of them as coming at similar issues from two different directions. But I suppose that's possible within each, as well.

By the way - I don't know who was grumbling, and don't want to know - but being unaware of multiple specialties in PhD work doesn't compliment their own understanding!

I hear you Oscar. My dad had a high school education and he was brilliant. One of my brothers has an AA degree and he spends his free time trying to solve proofs for unsolvable math problems. Education is most related to class, not intelligence.
