"It's one thing when you are planning an effort like this, this is a work of journalism — I'm not going to interfere with my subjects. It's another thing when you are in an underground brothel in Bucharest, who has this girl with Down Syndrome, who you know is undergoing rape several times a day. When this girl is offered to me in trade for a used car ... I walk away ... it's not an easy thing to do," he says."

"In 1850, a slave would cost roughly $30,000 to $40,000 — in other
words it was like investing in a Mercedes. Today you can go to Haiti
and buy a 9-year-old girl to use as a sexual and domestic slave for
$50. The devaluation of human life is incredibly pronounced."

Sitting here in our nice comfortable homes with our children hopefully safe, what can we do to help? I'm serious, the thought of what is happening to those poor children makes me ill. I want to do something.

Thanks for the eye-opener, Debbyski. Plain to see, barbarians were kinder back then...

Both the buyer and the seller should be drawn and quartered.

Reminds me of when I went to the Dominican Republic.
We went out on a short boat cruise and when we returned the dock was full of 6 year olds begging for pencils.
Ya pencils!!They needed them for school.
I could not believe how indifferent my shipmates were about this.I went to the nearest store and bought pizza for every kid there. Each year I send Paliardo( a friend-waiter I met there)a case of 5000 pencils to bring to those kids.It makes me ill to think of tourists using these children.

There is something very wrong with the mindset of a government that allows these conditions to exist. As for the people that promote this type of abuse and the ones who seek this type of activity I will stand behind what I said in my first comment. How can people turn a blind eye at such conditions?

Who is worse the one selling or the one buying?
Maybe it's the ones who turned that country into what it is today .

The country is what it is. I'm with tanyamm. I do not care the reason why, I just want to help. Hopefully the receivers of kindness will pass on to a new generation the human dignity and love by the actions of people like swampfoxz. Bless you swampfoxz.
