Eaglewings says: Let all who are without money come and drink from the fountain freely without cost. The gospel if Jesus Christ is free for all. It costs you nothing yet it is not free. It does not require a large bank account to acquire yet it is not cheap. The only requirement to receiving the Gospel is to believe on Jesus Christ and the One who sent Him. Amen! 3 for 3 WOW on a roll here Real faith watches without the need for so much noise or attention. Real faith is shown in the works of the faithful. The applause of men is a poor shadow in the light of the approval of god through reconciliation. By trying to live the way he expects us to behave in heaven, we can learn, that commitment to pursuit of truth in action is the only way we can prevent bringing about our own destruction. Amen! Excellent clip! Immediately one of my favorites quotes to live by came to mind: "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God" (Matthew 19:24), yet some have explained this away, saying that this "eye of the needle" was a metaphor. I had read somewhere a book titled something to the effect of the mistranslations of the bible and the camel and eye of a needle was one of the passages addressed so was my favorite verse Isaiah 40:31. The passage referenced in neochonetes comment Matt 19:24 was addressed in this manner. Ancient manuscripts from which the modern translations utilized had showed signs of wear down through time and misplaced accent marks above or below a character could change the entire meaning of the word or its translation. They then went on to explain the differences and then translated the above verse to say it is far easier to pass a cord through the eye of a needle then for a rich man to get into hea... Disgusting as this is, it just gives me a chuckle picturing what it would look like if Jesus was making demands like these today... A pedicurist removing those lace-up sandals he's always pictured in, while he sits in his robes having his long hair styled as he sips a room-temp Perrier on his private jet en route to the speaking engagement, yelling into a cell phone at this assistant that they better not show up in a 2003 model to pick him up when he lands or there'll be hell to pay! GREAT comment melizer. I loved it! I am rolling on the floor laughing at the thought of it. However; I do not think Jesus is laughing at the vane glory these men at taking for themselves. But actually for these guys who seek man's approval I guess they have received their reward. What makes it even more obnoxious...if you could command a five-figure fee for one speaking engagement, couldn't that cover a first-class commercial airline ticket, a limo, your hotel, and salon services with plenty to spare? And the higher-ups at organizations that pay for these demands do it because they're using his appearance to fleece the flock in order to line their own pockets also. It's SO vulgar! Now picture Jesus going to this conference an kicking some ass! "This action was directed against financial exploiters of people trying to worship God, and of those worshipers’ vulnerability in that particular setting." Yes, it seems that some have interpreted the rich man going to heaven as easily as a camel going through the eye of the needle in other ways, The bulk of Jesus' teaching are against greed and for sharing the wealth. Jesus OFTEN told rich people to give all their wealth away when they wanted to follow him. Also, when was the only time Jesus ever expressed anger in public? HMNMM! When he overturned the money lenders and merchants tables IN THE TEMPLE. |
