I can't believe it. I'm not good at legal speak so I am not sure what to make of this. Go to the site and read the rest or just google the title of the article and find out more. If anyone has any idea if this in any way can be true, please say so.
"(ii) to have materially assisted, sponsored, or provided financial, material, logistical, or technical support for, or goods or services in support of, such an act or acts of violence or any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order

can't find anything in the main media but it seems to be true

best link I've found http://www.opednews.com/articles/3/opedne_alex_wal_070719_30_days_to_absolute_.htm
"30 Days to Absolute Tyranny!" with a link to the white house

"An executive order only becomes law if Congress doesn’t overturn it within thirty days after it is published in the Federal Register."

Jeepers liotrofi, this is getting more and more scary! Thanks for the link. In it, it also says:
Call your two Senators. Call your Congressman. RAISE HELL! (but for God’s sake, don’t go out into the streets and smash in store windows and get into a tussle with cops to vent your frustration). That would deliver the perfect excuse for Bush to take your stuff away from you, or to have you arrested as a “terrorist” under the Military Commissions Act.

This is your last chance. If this one slips by you, it’s all over.

Only the actions of an insane and frightened man.

In the 70s America was saved by a small number of college kids and hippies. And back then the fear was greater. Yet common sense and the gathering of the common people to go against Government rule saved this nation. And the Internet was barely available back then.

If Bush thinks he can bring Marshal law upon us. Then it proves he is a paranoid fool, And does not belong in the highest office. And If he thinks the military will do his bidding. He might find that the troops that he has abused, Will put an end to his madness.

As I read this I swore it was satire....then I got that sinking feeling in my gut....Could I actually be arrested for my political views?
I read the oped article which stated that the govt could take your home, property & seize all assets if you were suspected of being a terrorist......but for protesting a war?
Too damn scary.

The REAL Napster
I am not seeing anything on this on either FAS or the Federal Register. If it's there I'm not seeing it, maybe somebody else can shed more on this.

So without VALID proof I again call B.S.

Kind of like the alarmists who (wrongly) claim the government can turn on a cell phone that is off and listen in to your conversations. They simply CAN'T so stop worrying about that one as well. The best part of knowledge is knowing what is possible and what isn't.

The details in the order do NOT say anything about denying of protest, in fact they state that those who offer monetary support to those undermining efforts in Iraq are the pinpointed targets.

Here's the PDF on the Executive order.

The key word is "or" which means it doesn't two, three or more points to be jailed, only ONE! The is legalese for "any one infraction" is enough, or, or, or, or.

"or (B) undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people;"

Notice this doesn't say anything about giving money, just "undermining efforts."

"or purported to act for or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, any person whose property and interests in property are blocked pursuant to this order."

Notice it only "purporting" for jail time in this case!

That basically means if you choose to offer support to someone on the shit list you're in it as well. Pretty straight forward and not cryptic at all.

I hereby report that I have issued an Executive Order blocking property of persons determined to have committed, or to pose a significant risk of committing, an act or acts of violence that have the purpose or effect of threatening the peace or stability of Iraq or the Government of Iraq or undermining efforts to promote economic reconstruction and political reform in Iraq or to provide humanitarian assistance to the Iraqi people.

That easily could cover anyone who has planned or planned to participate in a protest of the war in Iraq. You go ahead and trust the son of the former CIA director who has had his ass covered throughout life by Poppy and friends without ever being held accountable. I don't choose to.

Yeah, I'm with the Real Napster on this. Although it's not because i think Bush and company aren't capable of it. This executive order is directed against people who've committed acts of violence, who are deemed to pose a significant risk of acting violently, to have provided material support to such people, or to be acting on behalf of such people. I don't see anything about providing moral support or comfort to those who'd undermine Iraqi stability. I think if this administration is capable of eliminating habeas corpus, eliminating anti-torture rules, and overruling the fourth amendment, they're probably capable of criminalizing dissent in all sorts of ways, but my gut tells me that this e...

Their not going to do it on any normal Tuesday but if you want to create an event (and our government has before) to go ahead and pull of a hair brained attack that no one is supporting but you are determined to anyhow (because God has told you to attack so and so) and then you want to suppress dissent they have just given themselves another tool. Alberto Gonzalez is interpreting laws like no other has before.

I don't put anything past this administration especially a president that refers to the Constitution as a "God damn piece of paper".

Very often a drowning Man, can drown those who think he can be saved. The Administration have built their white house in the sand, and as the walls are beginning to crumble, they insist on adding more floors.
The wreck of that house will be more catastrophic than any other in history. History repeating it's self.

A Government cannot deny the right Free Speech. Free Speech can only be surrendered. You cannot kill an idea.
George w Bush is guilty by his own admission, with his conspirators (Politics is a form of conspiracy, that through the ignorance it foments,is generally acceptable) of High Treason, which in their eyes can be redeemed by fiction. How will the Republicans get another President elected ? I'm sure now GWB has been spent, he can be reclassified as co-lateral damage. Everyone has to make sacrifices.

A police state is defined as a country that controls the actions of it's citizens, through the organs of the state by any means necessary. A police state typically exhibits elements of totalitarianism and social control, and there is usually little distinction between the law and the exercise of political power by the executive.

If the above is true, what next Martial law.

For years I have heard people talk of police states across the world, yet the united states has the largest grouping of police and security forces to protect it's freedom.

The FBI, National Security, Secret Service,DEA, CIA , ATF,State Police, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, US Marshal's and over 17,000 state and loc...

@thisname-

As that article points out those are ONLY theories, or possible explanations nothing proven. As i pointed out before, you cannot remotely 'turn on' a cell phone that has been powered off, the design circuits don't exist. Furthermore, TDA/TDM network phones don't have global chips in the first place, so locating said phones is next to impossible. As far as eavesdropping on carrier calls while a phone is ON that is possbile, and has been for quite a while. Moral of the story: If you are worried about people following you or listening in, turn off your phone.
