He also has some pressure by his Republican party to try to do something to ameliorate the strong public opposition to the Iraq War and the strong public bewilderment and anger about the failure to kill or capture bin Laden for the last 7 years.

This is now a priority due to the upcoming elections. Politics is the motive.

Fortunately I don't think it will help the Republican party much and I still hope for and encourage their massive defeat in the upcoming USA elections.

He exists in his own little dream world. I agree with citizenbfk - the Republicans have to find something to justify "staying the course" in Iraq. They forgot that we went into Afghanistan to pursue Bin Laden. There were no terrorists in Iraq until we got there.
