Socratoad says: I just listened to an interview with the founder of this site/software on the radio. and was quite impressed. To me it sounded like a superior way to learn other languages, something I've always wished to do. I am able to semi-converse in a limited number of languages, especially after a couple of glasses of backbone. Several years ago a friend of mine attended a French immersion course in the province of Quebec during his vacation two years in a row.. The memory that has stuck in my mind was his excitement at now being able to reread some of the classics, such as "Les Miserables" in their original language. The translations apparently are but a pale comparison. I really would love to read many, or even one, of the Russian classics before I leave this mortal coil. I had better get on with this quest as I am getting very long in the tooth, so to speak. No, I do not own any shares. I think I might just start with German. Good. I'd like to learn German too. I've still got all my texts and disks from the college course I had to drop out of. Ooh, I've been wanting to learn Spanish for a while now. Not being able to chat with my neighbors makes me feel half-witted, and since learning Vietnamese is just not feasible, Spanish seems like the way to go. HMMM. Interesting, Socratoad. Thanks! You are very welcome. To catch another language is like open another world. But without routine practicing in real life it is practically impossible. Each of us has a dream... Excellent clip Socratoad, thanks for this one Pleased that you like it.. -) |
