Ignored by the US in its time of need. Iraq was a more "dangerous target." I hope the UN troops fair better than the US in Iraq.

I believe there have been UN troops there in the past, but were completely ineffective and corrupt, bringing more terror onto the innocents there.

From my limited understanding, I do think there was previous forces involved, just not enough to make a difference. I hope stability ensues, not chaos. These people have already lost so much to brutality and murder.

There were previous troops from South Africa but their rules of engagement were "Never engage."

So literally the troops could not engage even when massacres of villages was happening right in front of them.

Further, Bush was the first to call what was going on in Darfur Genocide. No one else was willing to take that step on the UN Sec Council. So while it may not have been as much should have been done, it was more than any other UN Sec Council member and we kept pressing for action from the Council.

I remember watching scenes of UN "peace keepers" watching genocide from their vehicles, unable to intervene and I never saw very many troops even if they had the power to use force. It seems now these 200,000 have that power. "The resolution will allow peacekeepers to use force to defend civilians and aid workers in Darfur from attack."
I hope it fairs better. Its really a disgrace that we can spend 100's of billions in Iraq but allow genocide to happen without doing anything.

I would if It wasn't for pro-censorship mooks like yourself. Care to explain why I cannot comment on your clips Mr. High and Mighty?

That's right, you practice the antithesis of what your preach. Just like the rest of the hypocrites out there. Love and peace. Good people who wouldn't harm flies even if they were the vector of disease.

I didn't attack you, yet you seem hell bent on snubbing a Veteran. You and your pal Vk seem to see the world through rose colored shades.

The high and mighty august personage of Papananook decrees:
For the first time I blocked someone from commenting here--I'm just
sick of this kind of person poisoning our planet with their total
disregard for human life. I'm more saddened than angry but I don't want
to listen to his drivel of violence. At least Willie has some modicum
of intelligence and doesn't advocate robotic behavior like the Rioting
Drone--B'bye, RD!
The naked use of violence is strength and power. Unfortunately selfish men now wield that power and events such as Darfur happen.

Robotic behavior? Survival is now robotic behavior. Quaint.

I advocate strength of the secular spirit. Survival at any cost....
