egoldstein says: Immoral? Immoral? This guy, living in the 21st century, responsible for the most powerful military on earth, believes that being gay is immoral!? Oh my goodness. If this guy isn't fired today... I wonder how he feels about men who have sex with goats. How I picture Bush's interview with General Pace when he decided to hire him... Bush: "So tell me General Pace, what is your take on gays in the military?" Pace: "Sir, I think gays are immoral." Bush: "You're hired." e....I think you're upset. What does living in the 21st century have to do with this? Oh, I get it; we're now more enlightened. Thank you, Gen. Pace. Oh, I get it; we're now more enlightened. We SHOULD be yes. And enlightened means understanding that not everyone has to be like you, and believe the same things you do. That people should be free to live their lives how they see fit as long as they are not hurting others (and no, gay people do not hurt others). As much as he is entitled to speak his own mind, he represents a very large organization, that historically is very anti-gay. I find his lack of compassion and understanding very disturbing, and that should be an indicator of how he thinks in general. Personally, I'd want the head of such an organization to be very understanding with the ability to see a situat... What is the cornerstone of his narrow brand of morality? Is it biblical? A careful examination of Scripture reveals the many of the passages taken today as condemning homosexuality in general are in fact speaking of acts that are always repugnant such as ritual sex in temples, prostitution, group orgies, rape, and child abuse. Perhaps Gen. Pace is immoral. Geez, add that to his general incompetency and it does not present a very reassuring picture. Hired killers are immoral. ....besides; I was immoral before I was queer. LOL @Thorne I've heard an argument lately that all military should be required to be gay. The argument goes that they have no "wife and kids" back home to worry about. And maybe they would enjoy the foxholes. Also, that the military has much less expense paying for "family support." As for me, I wonder if that would make the prospect of fighting this particular army even more scary than it is now? I can see Abdul Al-Whatever sitting in his bunker worried "if those guys catch me... they are going to *&^ me in the **&! I should add - I really wasn't trying to be offensive. Someone I know really suggested that stuff. Not my idea. Except the last part of course This is what I think about gays and lesbians. If it is wrong then the only person they would have to answer to is god and not me so I don't worry about it. I try not to judge anyone. What is moral in the state of war? War is the most immoral thing regardless of how long we've been warring. Doesn't make it moral when Greeks or Arabs were involved in the past, doesn't make it moral when Americans are involved now. What people say , and what they do are two separate things. You're the man General Pace, don't back down (especially into a foxhole). Good stuff travislaborde! Love it! |
