Karthik, a third-year Dental College student at the Pariyaram Medical College here, took the extreme step after his lover reportedly suggested to him while chatting that she would like to end the relationship, police said.

Karthik was believed to have hanged himself in front of the webcam telling her he knew how to end things, while the girl kept on pleading with him not to take such a step, a senior police officer, probing the case, said.
