This is incredible! Could you imagine if you could simply turn off pain? Even if it's not for everyone, imagine how this could help those with chronic severe pain or terminal illness. Yeah, you would have to have some caution with its application, because immediately I think of pro-athletes who would turn off pain so they can continue to play even though it could take years, or decades off their life. But to those with chronic pain, or even temporary chronic pain (like people who would use it during cancer treatment and then discontinue use during remission) I'm fairly sure that this is not cool at all. If you couldn't feel pain what would stop you from say, stepping on a nail and bleeding to death? How could you tell you were harmed? Or if you touched something hot and held onto it? Would you even know you were being burned short of you skin smoking? |
