I invested in a dehydrator last year, love it. My kids like the dried cherries best for snacks and cereal toppings. Great Clip,Thanks Toad You are welcome Lisa Drying food fascinates me. Have been drying food for years .... great way to preserve those surplus fruits and veggies, and even wild mushrooms. Or make good use of sales during peek harvest times. PS: the thought of the cherries makes my mouth water. You can dry halved tomatoes, plums and grapes etc quickly, by laying them out on a tray and putting them in the back of a car. Dried cherries are yummy. I actually started 1 1/2 ago. When I started my gardens, i have one outside and a container garden inside. My husband says it's like living in a jungle--until he gets fresh tomatoes in mid winter But when ever there is a good sale on fruits and veggies I grab extra to dry. Great for snacks and cooking . If you like mushrooms, there are growing kits. Its basically a box with organic material and mushroom spores, stick it in the basement, under the kitchen or bathroom sink and you've got fresh mushrooms anytime. you can get either shitake or button. Yum. Love mushrooms. You know, I can a lot, but I've never dried foods. I'd like to try. |
