Isn't it more pathetic that the democrats aren't capable of doing anything about it!? All the complaining and criticism in the world won't do a damn thing. They claim to have been elected by the American people to put an end to this war. They talk a lot about putting an end to this war. But they haven't done anything to make it happen. I find that a lot more pathetic and disappointing than the fact that Bush is still sticking to his game plan and trying to make it work. At least he's capable of doing what he says and executing a strategy based on what he believes in. Isn't it more pathetic that the democrats aren't capable of doing anything about it!?Yes, definitely. They're afraid to lose the next presidential election by alienating the Christian right wing that put Bush in power.. If we get a Democratic president, they may grow some balls. Until then, they will pander. It would be interesting to see how things might have been different if Ned Lamont had been able to defeat "hardly a Democrat" Joe Lieberman. The threat that he might fully join the dark side makes it that more difficult for the Democratic Party. But as previously mentioned, funding for the war could be cut off effectively by 41 Senators mounting a filibuster. But as previously mentioned, funding for the war could be cut off effectively by 41 Senators mounting a filibuster. No guts, no glory. It's shameful how politics trumps reason time and time again. Ending the war is simpler than that, as Dennis Kucinich has often pointed out. Funding takes legislation. Nancy Pelosi could stop the war today by saying, "Mr. President, we're not going to bring another funding bill to the floor of the House. There's enough money in the pipeline to bring them home." It doesn't take passing a bill to stop it. Bills only continue it. But Dem's are afraid of the political repercussions. Democrats - throughout history - are equally responsible for American Foreign Policies, that is, the making of the so called American Empire. Well I am glad that the Clipmarks community is on the case. The Dems need a wake up call, especially after this week extend stupidity from the WH and the Pentagon. Is good to be back! Masbury, thanks for point that out. I applauded Dennis Kucinich when he stated that in one of the debates (I frequently find myself applauding him). Too bad he is not 6 feet tall with styled hair. Then he could truly be a candidate. |
