You guys have really got my "hamsters turning" this morning...excellent thought provoking ideas and information I haven't given serious thought to since college. ("tuny's" clip is also good).

While we are on "time"...does anyone know why I need a new watch battery about every 6-8 weeks, or so? I was told by my M.D. that it has to do with having too much static electricity in my body. What? Please?

Tuny... well thought out response along with some others. I like thinking out the various possibilities in my hunt for plausibility.

online... ummm, perhaps your watch battery is lasting several years but you don't know it because you're actually caught in a time warp?

Your body is chemically active and re-acting with the metal base and/or band of your watch . Get some clear packing tape and apply a piece to the base metal of your watch. You can trim around it with an xacto knife or sharp razor blade. (preferrably while you have the watch off). I stop watches dead, and my mother does the same.

As for time, it does exist, it's just not a constant. Our realization of time based events around us make us aware of it. Like how lo...

If we didn't track it would it exist?

That's correct. Same as a tree falling in the forest. Just because you are not there to see it fall doesn't mean it makes no sound. Or falls on the bear taking a crap at the wrong place, at the wrong time. I guess I can't understand why people are having a problem with this time thing its all so simple. The examples they are using are those that are devoid of measurable events in the first place.

The Real Napster, can you explain why I am always the person to burn out the lightbulbs when turning a light on? I do it so often. Does it have anything to do with shocking myself on every metal door handle and supermarket shelf in the world? Ouch!

Maybe. Chances are you are wearing sandals or some type of footwear that builds up a charge easily. To stop yourself from personal electroshock every time you touch metal, squat down and touch the floor with your fingers or the back of your hand just prior to touching metal surfaces. If you are in a supermarket or large warehouse type building (like Sam's club or Costco) the shock can be annoying, even painful. Those buildin...

If you can blow them up without touching anything, then you may have other issues going on.
Ah, that's my secret superhero power!

Seriously, I blow out lightbulbs once a month by flicking the switch, but it never happens to anyone else. It happens many places, not just my home.

Thanks for the shopping tips, TRN. I get shocked more often with my crocs, so I quit wearing those. Still, it's so annoying.

Skwirl's right, I need to be grounded.

That's what I suspected as well. By touching the ground with your hand prior to touching metal, you discharge any built up electrical charge.

Answer to Question: Why does time seem to exist only in a forward direction?

Time seems to only exist in a forward direction because the universe is expanding. If the Universe reaches Critical Velocity and starts to contract ....then time, as we measure time will reverse according to the Big Bang / Big Crunch Theory. The reason for this is that time does not exist without change or movement..... (change or movement of particle matter or energy as we know it). If matter has no movement either expanding or contracting then time does not exit for that matter. However Time can exist around non moving particle matter if somethin...

If the expansion of matter increases as in the case of our universe, or an expanding object, ...
