BartendingBear says: This is great news. Roger Penske will drive Saturn to new heights of success, to the benefit of consumers everywhere, IMHO. Here's another thing - competition in the automotive market went nearly dormant with the über-consolidation of the industry from WWII through the '60s. In the 1930s there were dozens of manufacturers; by 1960 less than ten. This is what gave the big three a huge dose of complacency that made them vulnerable to foreign competition. If there's one thing Roger Penske understands, it's competition. When it was announced that Saturn would be sold, one of my thoughts was that it might be a good match for the Tesla electric car people, giving them a nationwide dealer network featuring a different way of buying a different kind of car. That's something Saturn knows all about. I can't wait to see what "The Captain" has in store. |
