Syria maybe scared, or bluffing. The closest it got to victory was in 1973 and its in no shape now to confront the IDF now.

Why would Syria be scared? I am not that privy to the sensitivity of the international alliance sin the region. That said, I am troubled by the increased pressure being placed on Israel by Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Hamas, hezbollah, Sudan, and now Russia. I see Turkey getting in the mix soon.

As the situation crumbles in Iraq, there is an increase in pressure on Syria both by Iraqi refugees and as an scape goat for American failures. Then again, Syria might feel that it can put reestablish its position in Lebanon in the wake of last years events (position that it lost by meddling in Lebanese internal affairs though assassination).
