The study suggests that human belief in God is essentially an evolutionary trait in that groups of humans that held such beliefs were more prone to cooperation and therefore had higher rates of survival and procreation. Simply put, believing in god has become part of human DNA, molded by countless generations of naturally selected religious lineages.</P></blockquote><div style="height: 2px; font-size: 2px; background: #dcdcdc; border-bottom: solid 1px #f5f5f5; margin: 2px 4px;"></div><blockquote style="text-align: left; padding: 0px 8px; margin: 4px 0px 8px 0px; background: transparent; border: none;" cite="http://www.hugoguzman.com/2009/09/the-ironic-origin-of-humans-belief-in-god/"><P>This assertion flies in the face of the current line of thinking held by prominent atheists like Richard Dawkins, who believe that religious beliefs continue to permeate society mainly because of poor education and childhood indoctrination. In other words, folks like Dawkins believe that religion is a question of nurture, not nature.</P></blockquote><div style="height: 2px; font-size: 2px; background: #dcdcdc; border-bottom: solid 1px #f5f5f5; margin: 2px 4px;"></div><blockquote style="text-align: left; padding: 0px 8px; margin: 4px 0px 8px 0px; background: transparent; border: none;" cite="http://www.hugoguzman.com/2009/09/the-ironic-origin-of-humans-belief-in-god/"><P>While the “nature vs. nature” facet of this study is intriguing, the thing that really piqued my interest was the delicious irony of it all.</P></blockquote></div><div style="margin: 0px 6px 6px 4px;"><table style="font-size: 11px;border-spacing: 0px;padding: 0px;" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" width="100%"><tr><td style="background:transparent;border-width:0px;padding:0px;"> </td><td align="right" style="background:transparent;border-width:0px;padding:0px;width:107px" width="107"><a href="http://clipmarks.com/share/0F0A32A4-989C-4120-AB14-4EC08FDBEDDF/blog/" title="blog or email this clip"><img src="http://content6.clipmarks.com/images/c2b-foot.png" border="0" alt="blog it" width="107" height="17" style="border-width:0px;padding:0px;margin:0px;" /></a></td></tr></table></div></div>
