I was afraid that this violence would again rear its ugly head under a Democratic president.

God damn it.

He kills babies for money every day then goes to church on Sunday??

But, no one deserves to die for this. Not even the babies.

Dr. Stiller's clinic was bombed in June 1986, and was severely vandalized earlier this month. According to the Associated Press, his lawyer said wires to security cameras and outdoor lights were cut and that the vandals also cut through the roof and plugged the buildings' downspouts. Rain poured through the roof and caused thousands of dollars of damage in the clinic. Tiller reportedly asked the FBI to investigate the incident.

Tiller and his clinic have faced continuous threats and lawsuits. A Wichita jury ruled in March that he was not guilty on 19 criminal charges he faced for allegedly violating a state law requiring an "independent" second physician's concurring opinion before performing later term abortions.

Leaders of national abortion rights organizations, meanwhile, expressed outrage. Some described Dr. Tiller as one of the only doctors in the nation who performed third-trimester abortions when the life or health of a mother was at stake, and said that his death would make it even harder for women in such circumstances to end their pregnancies.

“Dr. Tiller was a fearless, passionate defender of women’s reproductive health and rights,” said Nancy Northup, president of the Center for Reproductive Rights, based in New York, which had worked on a legal case related to Dr. Tiller. “It’s time that this nation stop demonizing these doctors, and start honoring them.”

The murderer (or conspirators) needs to be dealt justice. If this person is guilty, then he needs the death penalty, in my opinion.

However, for his crimes of killing untold numbers of unborn babies...he is now answering to a higher power than our judicial system. A "passionate defender of women's reproductive health & rights"...whatever. More likely it was money and/or an attempt to thwart the thousands of unborn babies & their mothers from becoming a drain on the national healthcare services.

Again, I make no excuses for the supposed murderer of "Dr. Tiller". He should be thoroughly prosecuted. However, enjoy the piling on to the overall anti-abortion proponents. You'll hold all of us vicariously guilty for this one man's crime.

Excuse me, but bullshit. This man has been a target of violence and intimidation for decades. One does not survive bombings and assassination attempts for a quick buck or to "protect health care", whatever the hell that means.

And he is not "Dr. Tiller." He is... was... Dr. Tiller, a human being.

A sick person killed another sick person, no justification for either.

Agree dl211.

Doctors...I learned, were compelled to save lives. Again, I repeat. If this person murdered DR Tiller then he should be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law. Our Law has *favorites* now so that might not be possible. :~( Lots of people have been persecuted for their beliefs and dedication.

A "human being"? Yes indeed. And so were those he helped dispose of. You can emphasis your remarks with profanity but the dialog remains the same. I'm sad that he is gone; I am not sad that his work is finished. I wish he had not been an object of such a serious hate crime because he now becomes a martyr and an icon.

Do you know that for a FACT? Risk death?? Give me a break. 95% of abortions are for convenience sake.

I'm not telling anyone to risk death. I just saying that I believe that the propaganda is tilted and at worst, a lie.

No one is going to change a single persons mind so there is no point in continuing the conversation. Abortion by mothers is a done-deal. It's convenient and easy to obtain. Go for it. While I have many, it will be something that I will not have to answer for.

Tiller Murder Suspect Is Scott Roeder. Connected With Operation Rescue.
By Justin Gardner | Related entries in Abortion, Breaking News, Terrorism

His name is Scott Roeder and it looks like he’s involved with Operation Rescue in some way. Obviously that doesn’t mean they’re to blame, but if you convince your followers that somebody is a mass murderer and is doing it legally…you think something bad might happen?

Here’s the comment he left at Operation Rescue’s site, via Free Republic:

Bleass everyone for attending and praying in May to bring justice to Tiller and the closing of his death camp.

Sometime soon, would it be feasible ...

To do so will be the equivalent of honoring the Nazi doctors.

You can donate to Planned Parenthood in honorarium of Dr. Tiller, and in opposition of the American Taliban here.

As we all know, premeditated murder of an adult is a loving example of being pro-life. I wonder how this assassin lives with their hypocricy.

I do not agree with murder whether it is Dr. Tiller or the killing of unborn babies. I see a lot of comments about the good intentions of Dr Tiller. He killed the unborn and somehow justified it in his mind. His murderer did the same thing. He felt justified to kill the Dr thinking it will prevent more deaths to the innocent.

Again, both are wrong, in my opinion, but there are two sides to every story.

Very hypocritical of the person who murdered him, and in the house of God yet. Shame on him.

This is so sad. May he rest in peace. I have always been pro-choice, but I do think the choice should be made prior to the 3rd trimester.

Still it seems so hypocritical of the pro-life people to abandon these babies once they are born. It seems they only care about birth; the rest can take care of itself.

I think wiccantexan put it very well in her comment.

I read here about"the house of God" and "may he rest in peace". Do you really think he is resting in peace after killing an untold number of the innocent unborn?

We hear so often that life is "in God's hands." So, I call out the shooter as a false Christian, taking matters into their own hands against God's commandment to not kill, justifying premedidated murder as "saving the unborn."

Don't fool yourselve that it's about Dr Tiller.

"My late father and I share the blame (with many others) for the murder of Dr. George Tiller the abortion doctor gunned down on Sunday. Until I got out of the religious right (in the mid-1980s) and repented of my former hate-filled rhetoric I was both a leader of the so-called pro-life movement and a part of a Republican Party hate machine masquerading as the moral conscience of America."
