What was he thinking?
The guard who stopped him?

Hmm, this fellow is not well.
Suppose this was the only clip you'd ever read at ClipMarks. What would you think ClipMarks was about?
LOL.

How do you cut off your penis with a jail razor?
If it was big enough (the razor, not the penis) and sharp enough to whack off your manhood, perhaps he should have just gone with the old "slit your wrists" to get attention. What a bonehead.

Ye, he was thinking very short term. You never know when you might need your penis. Ha ha.

More importantly, if this fellow is so psychotic as to be doing things like this, why isn't he under surveillance? You can't just plop mentally ill people in prison and let them maim themselves. And if you're cutting off your penis, you're not thinking with a healthy brain.

And with a disposable plastic razor? Have any idea how much slicing - a millimeter at a time - that would take? He must've been at this for a long time before anyone knew it.

No one knows why he stopped - the police said it was probably the pain. We have a serious problem with prison supervision here in Orange County (understatement). Many officers spend years in the jails serving as guards before they are allowed to get to the streets. By that time, they are callous and bitter. We have a new sheriff - hopefully she will be able to make some changes.

Probably a problem most places, unfortunately. Here in Iowa we've struggled with the absence of much treatment for mentally ill inmates, and resultant suicides. I gather that nationwide, people who commit crimes related to mental illness are often housed with the general population and really suffer. I hope we can become a less vindictive society.

You don't train them as police and then require them to be jailers???

Surely they are separate jobs entirely??? Only in America?

We trained them to be police and then give them jail duty. Most, if not all, would prefer to be on the streets patrolling. Jail duty is like a right of passage. I would prefer to see them out preventing crime and establishing community relationships and leave the jail guarding to private companies or to those that want to be guards.
