Firefox 3.0 has just reached 8 million downloads in the famous Download Day, wich, if you haven't heard about it, was an attempt from Mozilla to break the Guiness record for the most software downloads in 24 hours.

Guiness World Records will now review the statistics and is expteced to make an announcement in the next few days as to whether Mozilla achieved a world record for the most downloaded software in one day.

Firefox 3.0 was released to huge expectation at 1800 BST on 17 June.  According to Mozill the new browser was downloaded 8,349,074 times, more Firefox downloads than the company has ever had in one day.
