Ah... catholicism. The other oppressor of human growth and understanding.

But I guess the Pope's got a point. Catholisism started the Lutheran, Calvinist, Presbyterian, Anglican traditions. In which the birth of even more traditions sprung (Baptist, Methodist, Mormon, Jehovas Witness, ect ad nosum).

And after all... He's the funny hat guy, you gotta listen to him.

But then agian, I think I agree with Stalin on this one.

Well, I'm not sure the Catholic church is any more guilty of "oppressing human growth and understanding" than most organized religions. But yeah, Benedict has always had this idea that all of Western Civilization comes from the Catholic Church and that it all falls apart if the Catholic Church dies or becomes irrelevant. This trait was all over the press when he was first elected pope.
