aculton says: My father died due to contracting Hep-c in Vietnam, he was 17 years old when he went to serve his country. He died 4-18-07 wile I held his hand. I'll miss him... sorry, my point was this government never really owned up there part in his illness, never helped him get a liver transplant, and never seemed to be grateful for what he gave them, his life. We are beginning to realize, how profoundly the public are being affected by the war. Once most of the suffering would have been done in isolation. Now there are contacts and links for those with common problems, and when the numbers are seen in the membership of these groups, the depth of the problem is becoming clearer than has ever been before. The World Wide Web is focusing much more than the strife of soldiers. It is also focusing the strife of the planet. How long will it be before these vets are living on the streets with their brothers in arms? My father died due to contracting Hep-c in Vietnam, he was 17 years old when he went to serve his country. He died 4-18-07 wile I held his hand.Acluton, it hurts to lose someone you love. It's clear that the quality of his life was diminished by his service to his country, and that his country failed him. Militaristic countries are big on flags and paraphernalia but not on humans, alive or dead. This has been taken to new heights by Bush, who doesn't do funerals or much else as c-in-c. Now there are more broken bodies and minds and families. I believe that bad as after care was of Vietnam, that it will be much much worse after Iraq. Why? We... Fuck this war. I would have thought that the information brought forth, by the mistreatment of Veterans at some facilities, would bring about change. But from personal experience, I have found they still think they can get away with ignoring their promise to Veterans. My experience is from the Minnesota VA, and two Wisconsin out patient facilities. I have fought them for over a year now. And they Keep telling me I have to prove that I was injured by them. So I will now get a good Attorney and hope he can win against the Government. I have VA benefits but I refuse to go. I could save some money but I also pay for good treatment. I have used the services of the VA hospital in Albany and while it was unpleasant and time consuming it did fill a need when there were no other options. I have never went back - that was 15 years ago. |
