The utter gall of those Interrupterz for accusing Healthcare Reform of doing the very things that the Free Market is doing to Americans right this very minute! The "Free Market" does not equal Freedom for the People; it equals Freedom for the Corporations to oppress the People.

Certain things just shouldn't be subject to the savage whims of the freemarket; things like Firemen, and Police; ... and Healthcare. They're too important, and intricately bound to the stated American Freedoms of Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.

All this still comes down to the money, how is it going to paid for? Even if the "people" get the same health care plan that Congress already enjoys, which is what Obama stated at the meeting he wanted to give to the people, how will the tab be paid? If the taxpayers think their social security/medicare taxes are outrageous, especially self-employed taxpayers, what will it cost with the "new" plan? One cannot soak the rich and the corporations for the tab, they have the ability and resources to take their "money" and go somewhere else to play, which leaves the ordinary joe to pick up the tab.

The current American health care system has
an administrative overhead load that is huge by international standards. The McKinsey Global Institute estimated that excess spending on “health administration and insurance” accounted for as much as 21 percent of the estimated total excess spending ($477 billion in 2003). Brought forward, that 21 percent of excess spending on administration would amount to about $120 billion in 2006 and about $150 billion in 2008. It would have been more than enough to finance universal health insurance this year.

It'll be paid for by premiums, same as now; just the premiums will be lower, and paid to a government agency (that won't hem and haw over approving treatments, like the Insurance Agencies do).

Americans pay, on average, 50% more than necessary for Healthcare, with many paying as much as double what it should cost. People actually want to hold on to that system? That's insane!

Satchamo, the common Americans are already footing the bill; to the amount of 50-100% more than it would cost under a government payer program. You're concerned about money? Well, Meaningful Healthcare Reform with a Single-Payer Public Option will put more money in your pocket, guaranteed.
