OK, I get the infection ref...but what about the theory that the Dems WANT A POWERFUL EXECUTIVE and their corporate bosses told not to impeach, so as to leave it alone?

Supposing in a democratic election, there were two choices, and both were corrupt, and while everyone knew about the corruption, they decided to ignore it because they could not see how it bothered them directly.When it starts to affect them directly, they realize they are powerless. What does a 'democratic' society do when there is no-one worthy of their vote? Elect them anyway.
