Thorne says: I ran out of Clippage. 10) Liberals are spiritually lost and blind to the truth of the gospel. I clipped this not at the source (I was kinda sceeert a goin' there), rather for an excellent Op/Ed over at Happy Jihad's House of Pancakes I love HJ. He can even make me smile at the close of a day like today. The scariest thing about these 10 items is I swaer I've heard them almost verbatim from another clipper. Ohhhh Willieeeeee.... Yoooo Hooooo..... Oh good Lord (pardon the pun)! These are nothing but blanket and presumptuous (not to mention offensive) statements. Frankly, Thorne, as for liberals hating Christians - who can blame them? I am a Christian and I can barely stand my own kind. And truth be told, if I hadn't had a personal experience with Christ, I know I would never have become one. Institutionalized/organised christianity is a travesty - a bad bad joke - especially the American model that is spewed out to the world. The infighting, the endless theological wars, the schism, the sects, the sanctimonious self-righteousness, the money grubbing, the power trips, the hypocrisy, the 'take no prisoners, show no mercy' attitude I'm saddened that Jesus Christ, the man Himself and His teachings, are so obscured and harshly judged and rejected beca... You know, I agree, that "Christianity Today" is a big part of the problem. (Not the magazine, by the way)... There will always be bad examples of any good thing. But I agree 100% with the first two quotes from the article: 1) Liberals are relativists and hate Christians because Christians believe in absolute truth. 2)Liberals do not want anyone to say that immorality is immoral. I'd add another to the list, and make it #1 - Travis) Liberals hate being called sinners. I think the big divide in the world is all based on how we react to finding out that we are sinners. One group gets all offended and fights back to protect their lifestyle from such an insult. One group falls to their knees and begs the Lord for forgiveness. If this is just another form of proselytizing.............. "They" will do anything to spread their hate. That is what this "article" is - "Hate Propaganda". I think the big divide in the world is all based on how we react to@travis You forgot one group which embraces their sin. This last group is a mixed lot comprising some of the worst and best individuals in our society. I am a Christian and I can barely stand my own kind.LOL. michellezm, there have been more than a few Wiccans/pagans I've wanted to give a good reality slap to as well. I think that's pretty universal. michelle, you said it all. I can't add to it. I used to do the church-thing for several years. It was eye-opening. More gossip than high school. I wondered where the teachings of Jesus had gone. I've learned more on my journey, through my own experiences and those of others. No one has all the answers. Maybe we aren't supposed to understand. Do you really want to know why "liberals" "hate" "Christianity?" It's things like this that intentionally spread ignorance, because there are a certain set of people that will take it completely at face value, as complete utter truth... despite the fact that, if anyone should actually read the source article, it's clear that the poser doesn't even take them seriously. If you really want to know why there's so much "hate" for "Christianity", go to fstdt.com and read the top 100 list. Especially if you consider yourself a Christian and don't understand why. (The words "liberal", "hate", and "Christian" have been quoted in this post because I am not trying to paint with the broad brush that the clip uses.) So are liberal Christians self hating? LOL, Cat Whisperer. So are liberal Christians self hating?Yes The Reverend, "Why do you not attend church services?" Lay person, "Because there are so many hypocrits there." Reverend, "Hell man don't let that stop you, there is always room fror one more." Socratoad, What is the definition of a hypocrite? Willhelm, I'm quite sure that both you and I know the answer to that question. However my quip was meant to lend just a tiny bit of levity to an otherwise all-to-serious finger-pointing excercise. Oh, ok, then I guess given that WE both know the definition of hypocrite, you were either being deceptive or just recently learned the definition. finger-pointing aside, thanks for the levity. Kudos, Thorne You've got everybody going! "applause" Damn willy. Why can't you be more like n2broncos. I don't agree with him on anything, but at least he's funny. You're just poison. Ok now insult me in classic willy style. LOL, laceym's a masochist laceym, what are you talking about? Laceym, You are new to me. Socratoad is not. My guess is Socratoad has a thicker skin than you. I guess I could be wrong. It would be rare. OK. I'll chalk it to me not being thick skinned. I guess I could be wrong. It would be rare. Now that's funny. Okay, let's do the numbers. (But I'll need y'all's help.) 13 pops 23 comments 14 commenters (no...don't worry. I'm not gonna ask for a statistical analysis Now don't be mean, because I'm not being my occasional mischevious self; I'm serious. Aside from tocie, who makes it clear, a)Did you actually follow the clip to the source? b)If so, did you follow the link from HJHP to the source of the article by David Berman. Please tell! I'm soooo curious, and many of the comments don't seem clear to me as to which article they are referring HJ's article or DB's article. Please help me out, folks. Answer?? Wi... I had to go to the source, because I couldn't believe what you had clipped. Then I realized what you did. I didn't go to anywhere after the source. No matter, I was practically guaranteedI do not know why you say that. I love lefties that understand logic. You, Socratoad, Enbar and Sarigordon (oh, how I miss her) are the only ones that appear to me to have some connection with logic and intellectual honesty. That's not my final tally. I'm holding out hope for Arifsali. That comment is strange to me. It suggests I seek out confrontation and I assure you that is not true. I just happen to comment alot. Anyway, I hope you do not think that. No worries, willhelm. I have noticed that you frequent certain clips for the love of debate. That was all I meant. Now please, tell me. Did you go to the sourse and if so, beyond? I really wasn't kidding completely in my initial remarks on the clip. Some of DB's arfuments did remind me of yours. I sincerely wondered how you felt about both articles. Do tell, dahlink!! I have to admit, I do not see the point. I did check out the links and I agree that many of the assertions are valid as proven here at CM. It is actually pretty obvious and I doubt most libs could honestly disagree. Each point is a discussion onto itself, so it would be futile to hash it out here. Not even I would be willing to attempt. |
