bferman says:
It appears that the global warming hysteria fits into the category of pseudoscience.

Pseudoscience paints all objectors as "on the take", "agenda-driven", or "too stupid" without actually responding to the points.

Going by the two previous comments, I'd like to add one:

Pseudoscience accuses science of being pseudoscience

Denialism: the employment of rhetorical tactics to give the appearance of argument or legitimate debate, when in actuality there is none. These false arguments are used when one has few or no facts to support one's viewpoint against a scientific consensus or against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They are effective in distracting from actual useful debate using emotionally appealing, but ultimately empty and illogical assertions.

Examples of common topics in which Denialists employ their tactics include: Creationism/Intelligent Design, Global Warming Denialism, Holocaust Denial, HIV/AIDS Denialism, 9/11 conspiracies, tobacco carcinogenec...

I think this article is actually a pretty fair description of what I understand pseudoscience to be. Anybody want to try to apply its reasoning to "global warming hysteria," rather than just making accusations? bferman? willhelm?

I particularly liked the science vs. pseudoscience table towards the end. . .

Science

Their findings are expressed primarily through scientific journals that are peer-reviewed and maintain rigorous standards for honesty and accuracy.
Look at my profile for clips from ten peer-reviewed scientific journals expressing findings supporting the global warming theory. Better yet, there's probably a library close to you . . .

Pseudoscience

The literature is aimed at the general public. There is no review, no
standards, no pre-publication verification, no demand for accuracy and precision.
Such as a newspaper op-ed, a Web site, and a novel.

Examples of common topics in which Denialists employ their tactics
include: Creationism/Intelligent Design, Global Warming Denialism,
Holocaust Denial, HIV/AIDS Denialism, 9/11 conspiracies, tobacco
carcinogenecity denialism (the first organized corporate campaign),
anti-vaccination/mercury autism denialism and anti-animal
testing/animal rights extremist denialism. Denialism spans the
ideological spectrum, and is about tactics rather than politics or
partisanship.
Laceym, Your comment is foolish. If you want to call the IPCC 2001 report denialism, that is your right. I am dealing with science and you are dealing with hysteria. Care to take a stab at telling me why you b...

if . . . you want more facts, I will be happy to oblige
How about you read and understand the present clip, and support one of the "facts" you already asserted with a reliable source?
ALL the science suggests the current warming period is not unusual, not
anthropogenic, and is coinciding with increased solar radiation which
has also warmed other planets and moons in the Solar System in a
similar way.
This assertion could use some peer-reviewed support. I'll forgive your overgeneralization "ALL" and assume you meant "some," or even "at least one peer-reviewed scientific source."

buches, you are hell-bent on dogma. Why don't YOU do research on peer reviewed science. It is out there. I'm dealing with the science, facts, and evidence. You are just playing a political game where censorship is the goal. How about first reading the IPCC report, which happens to agree with me more than it agrees with you.

I already did a lot of research, and already noted that I posted ten peer-reviewed journals that support my assertion. However, you just spouted bogus "facts."
Pseudoscience displays an indifference to facts.

Instead of bothering to consult reference works or investigating directly, its advocates simply spout bogus "facts" where needed. These fictions are often central to the pseudoscientist's argument and conclusions.
Pseudoscience always avoids putting its claims to a meaningful test.

Pseudoscientists never carry out careful, methodical experiments themselves—and they also generally ignore results of those carried out by scientists. Pseudoscientists also never follow up.

Correction: nine reports supporting the anthropogenic global warming theory. One of them is discussing solutions.

For example, this peer-reviewed journal directly contradicts your assertion.

willhelm:
ALL the science suggests the current warming period is not unusual, not anthropogenic, and is coinciding with increased solar radiation
Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences:
even large solar irradiance change combined with realistic volcanic forcing over past centuries could not explain the late 20th century warming without inclusion of greenhouse gas forcing. Although solar and volcanic effects appear to dominate most of the slow climate variations within the past thousand years, the impacts of greenhouse gases hav...

So you've decided not to respond to me anymore? Wait a second, you have never responded to the substance of any of my comments. Just more of the same.
They not only provide no evidence that their claims are true. They also ignore all findings that contradict their conclusions.

Buches, Whatever makes you feel good. Your taking lines from leftwing talking points meant only to shut down the scientists. Because in your world, its all about the the politicians and politics.

Wait a second, I'm the one quoting scientists. How am I trying to shut down someone if I'm posting their articles? And what do any of my posts on climate change have to do with politics? You're the one talking about a UN agenda.

I don't think you're talking to me, I think you're looking in a mirror when you write, thus the right-to-left shift.
