Petraeus certainly deserves the promotion but I hope it's not too soon for him to leave his post. Everyone has a propensity to change things around once they start to go well.

Petraeus' second in command will be taking his spot. Hopefully he has learned some hard lessons that Petraeus endured.

Petraeus is a brilliant commander. Say what you will about who backs him in the political arena, the troops look up to him. He is a leader, not bureaucrat.
