"the U.S. and Iraq shared many common interests."Yes, they did. It was all about the U.S. aiding Iraq so they could fight Iran. Seems that part was left out. And this all connects back to that old hundreds of years old doctrine: 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend.' Seems that part was left outNothing was left out in some conspirital attempt to not tell the whole story, I can only clip to 1000 characters and thought those interested would be competent enough to go to the source and/or do their own research. No, what our commenter leaves out is that the U.S. had no problem encouraging an invasion of one country by the brutal dictatorship next door, finance genocide and weapons of mass destruction and keep a megalomaniac in power with strong ties to your ideological enemies, as long as they do what their told. Once they bite the hand that feeds them (Kuwait) then they become expendable. That is the real reason behind the invasion of Iraq, to re-establish Imperial control over the region. Funny thing is that it was the very enemy that the U.S. tried to keep in check (not defeat, just return it to the it's "area of influence") that is the clear winner of the invasion of Iraq. Same credentials as Cheney - head of a multi national. In the best position to lobby from. |
