India - a land of contradictions. amazing the girls were even born. I recall something on one of the educational channels where pregnant women are tested and if carrying a female, they are aborted. yet there is so much knowledge, culture, enlightenment. What would Gandhi say? this just breaks my heart. i can't believe what kind of self-esteem women in these countries have to be berating each other for birthing more females. those cultures who trump up gender difference to this extreme are so skewed, women should be celebrated and not denigrated. What a shame Since time immemorial the female sex has been discriminated against - underrated, undervalued, overlooked and abused. Despite legislation against discrimination in the western world, laws don't change the fundamental attitude of the heart of men. They do however offer a measure of protection. As Indian women are, so are black African women, the most down-trodden, neglected, abused and impoverished people on their respective continents. Who are we to question their cultural norms? (Just a little devils advocate there...of course this is horrible and my heart goes out to the women in the article) That's the problem, when culture becomes scripture and then it becomes the norm. Both should be fluid and evolving as far as I can see. sad Sad, indeed Hello every girl, being a girl i would like to say, that it really hurts a lot when we listen or see these misfortunes. So i would request all the females (who are reading my mail ) that we should not let any body =heavy on thses issues, whenever we find such mishappenings we shuld fight for it confidently and tell every body that without females the whole world is like a flower without leaves, colour and frarance. |
