This sunspot is the best offering yet from the young solar cycle.
This cycle is a bit late, but we have to take what we get.

4 July is also the date of aphelion - the point in Earth's orbit which is farthest from the sun. The perihelion will occur on 3 January 2010; the Earth will be nearly 5,000,000 km closer to the sun than it was today.
