mcsmithblack says: Love me, love my dead toys. The training concept sounds plausible - I know of a cat who brings home live mice, birds and lizards and drops them in front of his owner. Their house is full of field mice. Good clip! I lived on a horse farm once that was also home to several cats. Every morning there would be about a dozen or so dead mice on the porch, perfectly intact....just dead. I think the cats were competing for our attention. It must have been a shock to walk out there and see all those mouse carcasses! You're right, it sounds like competition. As long as we don't have a proper common language to explain what we mean, it's just about guessing 'what does the cat mean'. As we often misunderstand other people, it is most likely that cats and dogs have the same problem. With us, but also with their fellow cats and dogs. There are rules and ways and instinct and so, but I have never met a cat that just sticks to that. I live with 7 people and a cat with personality. He makes different sounds for different demands (food, milk, outside, need to poop, wanna play, I see mice / dead people), but communicates and behaves differently depending on the person. He just tries by trial and error, what works to get things done. I'm the one who hu... One of my cats brought me a sparrow. She dropped it at my feet, looked up at me, meowed, and then ate it, feathers and all. omg zizzy, That's an awful story. No awful stories allowed from now on. chestnut - I have never thought of it as being awful. As I stood at the stop of the staircase on a fine spring morning and watched her eat, I thought, wow, this is gross ... and ... kinda sweet that she trusts me enough to reveal the wild cat inside the pampered kitty. |
