masbury says: They're denied entrance to the polling place because of their Obama gear - and a McCain backer helps them out . . . here's a good American story. (Apparently they were unaware that you can't be making partisan displays at polling places) Many states classify the wearing of campaign T-shirts and buttons as electioneering, forbidden within 100 feet of a polling place. They would have been denied entrance to the polls with visible McCain campaign insignia as well. I hope this story serves to remind voters to protect themselves. And I hope it pisses voters the hell off (excuse me) that we have to be concerned about it at all. On another thread of yours, I shared the run-around I got in Indiana in 2004. We remember Florida and Ohio. Check with your county election officials and make sure you're on the rolls and vote early! Don't let them steal your vote! What I especially like about the story - that doesn't show in the clip - is that the guy was a McCain supporter. I love it when decency outshines self-interest! I did read, sure enough, that early voters are much less likely to have their votes messed with than election-day voters. These women are a good example - had they found no way to vote on this day, they could have come back on another. Not so easy on election day. Now that is putting Country first. Well said. Great clip. Love it Good clip. Every once in a while the real America shines through. Also, as far as I know it is illegal in MOST places to wear any kind of campaign paraphernalia into polling places. What a gentleman! |
