Once again we're witness to an attempt by a Christian fundamentalist to indoctrinate school children into his cult. The interesting point was made that 1) for eleven years people have complained about his classroom behavior and 2) other science teachers have testified that they had to reteach students that took this loon's class.

Now the school board is finally looking into sacking this "teacher".

A Comparative Study of the World's Religions class should be mandatory in High School. It would teach tolerance for the beliefs of others (admittedly not something many Christians would desire) and it would provide the perfect forum for presenting various creation stories.

I have no problem at all with teaching a comparative religion course. It's surprising how ignorant some of the most rabid fundamentalists are of even their own religion. Exposing them to other views couldn't hurt either. Unfortunately, I suspect that many christians would object to this type of class because they don't actually wish to have an open dialogue but instead wish to only promote their own beliefs. But maybe I'm wrong.

I'm not anti-religious. I'm against mixing theology in science class or in my government. Otherwise, folks can pretty much believe what they wish. It's a free country (for the time being at least).

I don't get this whole debate. Take a bit of time and explain all of creationism. It's just a few words: "God made it all" and should take all of 4 seconds.
Next treat evelution equally and explain ALL of that.

Problem solved.

LOL! Good point.

I think that the same folks that want to teach Creationism would not wish to stop there. I may be wrong but I can envision they'd be more satisfied with a Christian Taliban educational system. Of course, it would be for our own good and solve the majority of the problems in the country.

The wolves are indeed clothed in their sheepal garb. And they are devious and they do lie to further their agenda. They hardly ever adhere to the notion of christianity that they spout.

I'm confused. Why would a secularist want to change the winter and spring breaks back to Christmas and Easter? Seems the opposite would make more sense.
