Oil companies want to justify the war in Iraq and the invasions of African countries. They can only do this if there is a shortage of oil. Cars that eco friendly don't use enough petrol.
Oil companies have bought out many patents on petrol saving engines and other technology so that they can perpetuate the oil shortage lie.

It wasn't included in the clip that is shown, but later in the article it points out that the PZEV low emission vehicles don't use any less fuel than their regular counterparts. This means it is because OPEC and Bush are scared of these cars reducing consumption.

I have not been able to locate any explanation for the sales ban out side of the 'Zero emissions' states, and to Lawrence Ulrich's discredit (the author of the above clip) he did not venture to explain why the sales ban is in place.
