sahara says: We spend more than double than the entire rest of the world, taxpayer dollars given to a government entity "for the health and "safety" of all citizens." "Of all the enemies to public liberty war is, perhaps, the most to be dreaded because it comprises and develops the germ of every other. War is the parent of armies; from these proceed debts and taxes … known instruments for bringing the many under the domination of the few.… No nation could preserve its freedom in the midst of continual warfare." — James Madison, Political Observations, 1795 Good clip. It's a good clip if you believe America will only achieve greatness if it were Cuba. So dare me, I dare you. It's a good clip if you believe America will only achieve greatness if it were Cuba.LOL! Thanks for validating the very point this article was making! I should link your comment over to Lew Rockwell! The military has been criticized. Remember the $500 hammer? The military waste a lot of money just as most government run programs do and has been criticized. But, what is the alternative? Since we are the last "super power" we are called on to police the world. Unless you think allowing other nations to takeover smaller nations and oil is OK, then we don't need a military. If you think protecting our country and freedom is not necessary, then we don't need a military. Otherwise, we have to be patient with this wasteful government spending program. If you think protecting our country and freedom is not necessary, then we don't need a military.Absolutely not what I think! I completely feel that the function of our military is to defend our country, our freedom, and uphold the Constitution. But we could cut military spending in half and still be the "super power". The function of our military is not to police the world, or protect multinational corporations, or nation building. We are doing all of this and more. Our allies are important, I agree on that, we contribute a disproportionate amount to NATO, not to mention how much we contribute in money and might to the UN. But we cannot and should not maintain an empire, it will, and it is collapsing us. |
