It wasn't that long ago that marriage was relatively common in the Western world for girls as young as 12 and probably even younger (in fact, to this day, New Hampshire allows girls to marry as young as 12 and West Virginia has no legally defined mimimum marriagable age). It wasn't until the 17 century that Great Britain RAISED the age of consent to 13 to curb prostitution.

It wasn't that long ago that SLAVERY was relatively common in the Western world for PEOPLE OF LOWER SOCIO-ECONOMIC STATUS and still exists in many parts of the world.

Still doesn't make it right. And I did marry young the first time. But, come on, this is the 21st century.

And marrying off your daughter at 10 or 12, is nothing but SLAVERY.

All free people of the earth should stand up and demand these barbaric "traditions" stop. But, we won't. The MidEast controls too much of our economies for us to stand up and do the right thing.
