Love the last sentence..."Where Clipmarks trumps Google Notebook is with its sharing, by letting you publish your clipping for the entire Clipmarks community to see and comment on." That's a tip of the hat to all you clippers out there!!!

Oh, and if they think Clipmarks is a worthy replacement for Google Notebook, just wait until they get a load of what we've been working on - coming soon!

Good one.

God knows I tried to use Google Notebook several times to no avail. The product just never clicked with me.

However, I've been testing Microsoft's Thumbstack lately and it's been doing what it's supposed to do, very quickly and effectively. But there is no comparison with Clipmarks.

From what I've experienced here, it's the sharing that keeps the clippers coming back. We have a great community. I love it.

I think the comparison is not really fair.

Clipmarks combines Notebook with forums.

Too much fun!

Can't wait until we "get a load of what's coming"!

Here we getting "the luxury of human interaction", too complicated, too rare and costly in real world. Combined with gaining a knowledge in real time, clearing our social position, such communication producing fertile ground for exchange and developing ideas, shielding us from trash, violence and obscurantism. That is core for healthy society and progress.

The clip is an opportunity for me to say thank you as I have not done so before. It is particularly exciting to be a part of something while observing the something's planned modifications and its unanticipated emergent properties.

The only Google utility I've found useful is Gmail - I even created a special Gmail account just to handle Clipmarks traffic, and I can apply filters to my Gmail accounts a lot better and easier than I can with my paid ISP.

When I do searches, I usually use Ask.com, because they have a feature called "AskEraser" that wipes out your search records after 30 minutes or so. Google, on the other hand, seems to put a half-life of 1,000 years on your info. And, despite the fact that I have personal reasons to despise Yahoo! (Yahell!), their groups are a whole lot easier to use than Google groups.

On what's coming soon - I hope it's not too radical. I have a good comfort zone with Clipmarks right now.

I like clipmarks the way it is too. When these big changes come please don't lose my clips like last time. I don't mind losing the count but I sure missed seeing my clips up there with all the others. Thanks for giving them back.

I have a ton of stuff in notebook but never made the connection to clipmarks. clipmarks is social and sometimes antisocial but I consider notebook asocial.

thank you for all the kind compliments. the only thing i can say about what's coming is that it will have no affect on clipmarks.com - though it will be tied to clipmarks.

it's an entirely new service that provides important functionality that wouldn't really make sense on this web site, but that we feel is lacking from the clipping experience.

wow, i think i may have just confused myself... sorry for being so cryptic...hoping to be ready to share more info very soon.

I don't know about an alternative to Notebook but I think that Clipmarks is a better alternative to Digg.

I've never compared Clipmarks and Notebook. I agree with gemfemfox. Clipmarks has richness in the sharing and exploring that is unlike anything I have found online. I've used both Notebook and Clipmarks. However, since the coming demise of Notebook I will be transferring ( Ubernote has a Notebook transfer tool) my notebook scraps to UberNote.

One thing interesting about Clipmarks is that it exposes me to a lot of opinions that I might never encounter. I don't agree or like some of those opinions, but, with exceptions, the exchanges manage a modicum of civility. Even those clippers whose philosophies I disagree with (or even despise) sometimes make inciteful comments on non-volatile topics. People who make my teeth ache on political subjects sometimes surprise me with comments on matters artistic or scientific.

GNotebook was never a Clipmarks alternative. New Clipmarks user who formerly used Notebook will be more than satisfied by CM.
