Mother Theresa understood that by focusing on 'anti-war', even though the intention seems commendable the emphasis is still on 'war'. Likewise, if you're focusing on changing an old habit, you're still focusing on that habit; therefore feeding it.

In short, old habits die hard. But forming a new habit which counteracts the old one might be a better alternative.
