ouyangwulong says: Does politics really make strange bedfellows? Is it so odd that Murdoch should support another corrupt, brutal and authoritarian goverment? We should read this and ask ourselves: what is it that Rupert Murdoch and his ilk really believe in? Are they really conservatives or simply autocrats mascarading behind a "small government" agenda? What is meant by "small" anyway? From one angle, the smallest government possible is a single dictator, while the largest government possible is a democracy where everyone holds equal share in the governance of their society. Murdoch is an interesting person, whom some of those into religion, think may be the anti christ. He is one of the elite of industry. Therefore he controls governments. (Note the bit about setting things up with no regulatory interference.) There are others. Dick Cheney is interesting as he appears to be a "plant" from Halliburton. (He was one of the "up front" CEO's) Whether he is or not, Halliburton paid millions to the govt for the 600% increase in contracts, mainly Iraq I suppose. There are, of course, others. Excellent clip and comment OW! The fallacy of a "small" government indeed. The whole "small government" thing has always been a sham, at least as far as business people are concerned. What they really want is a vigorous government doling out corporate welfare and using powers like eminent domain to get the little people out of their way. |
