The STRATEGERY is obvious. Convince the Dems to run Hillary. interesting kmcolo...thoughts on who the republicans will look to run against her? John McCain My first guess would be Jeb. She'd not get my vote. grrrr I'm not her fan, follower or otherwise. She'd not get a lot of votes. That's the point. i think that if kerry came as close as he did, then hillary has to have a legit chance. so much comes down to florida, illinois, wisonsin, michigan and pennsylvania...who knows! Though I wish it could be otherwise, I think Hillary would get destroyed. If it's Rodham vs McCain it will be the lowest voter turnout in history. Hard to imagine two more unlikable, insufferable, self-serving, self-absorbed, media hound, hollow shells. Not a pretty picture. GD, what's your case against McCain? All the wingnuts (sorry GD) hate McCain. "Though I wish it could be otherwise, I think Hillary would get destroyed." And I think that is what Bush and Rove think too. And my gut feeling is that is true as well. I have no idea, Adam. I get my talking points in the morning, and you know how it is, I just go with them. Never thought to question them. Hilary's not known as the "Human Political Wind Vane" for nothing...she'll swivel in any direction necessary to align with the prevailing political winds So far, I see Hilary in '08 doing as well as Kerry in '04. Which is a pretty glass half-empty/half-full situation for Dems, no? As for the GOP ticket, the crucial religious groundswell is already building for Rudy Giuliani (http://clipmarks.com/clipmark/44ED2617-D044-4C73-B353-C3D7C6CEA1C4) If I were advising [Rudy] I’d urge him to pick a running mate who possesses major foreign policy experience to offset his lack of expertise. A Giuliani-Rice ticket? It’s what Democratic nightmares are made of.* Distant rumbles of thunder... * I also fear Hillary does not have a realistic shot. They have 13+ years of ammo on her already. I have my money on Guilliani over McCain for the elephant choice for 08. Why? Guilliani has less of a history of confrontation with the far right. Where he does differ with far right, on issues like abortion and gay rights, Bush's supreme court nominations have already strengthened ultraconservative voices in the court. In terms of string backing of the military, the war, support of Patriot Act, fiscal conservatism, and overall competence, he seems a likely choice. Plus, he was already called a "fascist" when he was mayor of NYC |
