Help me out here arifsali, I'm lagging behind on this issue. Exactly what will happen if there is no bailout? I keep hearing "terrible things" or "the fall of the economy" but nothing really specific. I hear "401ks and retirement stocks" will fail, but what does that mean? Are those not protected by the FDIC?

I've become a bit gunshy to the sound of our government using fear and panic to accomplish something. The last time it did that we went to Iraq and spent a trillion on a bogus war. So now with all this caterwauling of doom and our politicians are monkeying around with affronted insults, delayed partisanship, and hidden agendas I have to wonder are we...

All my life I've heard nothing but complaints from the wealthy on welfare. Now suddenly welfare is a good thing, and they ain't doing it small. Would I be wrong to think that 700 billion is a lot more than the entire welfare money put out in America?

Again, I have to think, what other benefits would 700 billion bring to America rather than wasting it on a war or this "financial crisis" if we are going to spend it anyway? Alternate energy, healthcare, education, science, research, etc.

Anyway, just wondering.
