Though this looks extremely promising, i think we won't really know until a few more months have passed. If could be some insurgent pullback until they have re-organized. or maybe they are waiting for more reinforcements or until they feel the coalition forces feel that are safe.. maybe they are watching and monitoring them to see their movements, etc? It's just too early to blow the trumpets of victory again... Because this isn't the kind of news that people are interested in. Good *news* is rarely popular (unless it's personal) and half of our population does not want the US to succeed in Iraq. But thank you for posting it. :~) The surge is working, why isn't it news here? The surge may or may not be working. What surprises me is your surprise concerning this "news" After being lied to repeatedly by a totally unethical administration why would you not expect more than a little skepticism.? I am well aware that every regime needs its own cheering section, but at least try to be objective every once in a while. Try it, you might like it. Wonder what the numbers of the US would be supporting the war or at least believe it's winnable and just, if the media machine wasn't so far left? yes, it's all the media's fault... people have no mind of their own First, I agree it is way to early to declare a complete success. I have no doubt it will go back and forth. But had the violence NOT gone down, I believe the media would have been all over it. And when the violence does surge again, I am sure the media will be all over that. Second, if advertising didn't work, companies (and candidates) wouldn't spend so many millions of dollars doing it. The MSM is basically advertising this war as a failure and has been doing so from day one of the invasion. To say that doesn't have any effect is just foolish. I believe in learning about the truth of any given situation by going to many sources. This helps level out the playing field. in this case I have listened to the AP and CNN, and Fox, periodicals, the far left and the far right. I know soldiers who have been there, some are grunts and some are officers. I have had the opportunity to speak with Iraqis and others in the Middle East. From this, I made my decision that this war is winnable, if the Iraqis continue to govern themselves and are serious about ridding their country of the foreign insurgents and taking a stand against any group trying to prevent that from happening. The troop surge offered a new game plan which I was all for, an... Try telling that to a public that wants to believe the opposite so the U.S. will pull out of Iraq. If mass media coverage shows it's working, it will mean Bush did something right (God forbid). The administration has been completely truthful from beginning to end. It is just that Americans are fairly gullible and in many cases let the talking heads do their thinking for them. The mainstream media has been giving America nonstop 24/7 propaganda disparaging the administration and showing all the negatives in this campaign. The Americans have become brainwashed on their network broadcast lies. The liars are the democrats and the liberals. Our President has been magnificent as has his administration, and the campaign would have been won a year or more ago had not the American traitors in the press and congress been constantly encouraging them to fight on. You can blame Nancy ... For the sake of all those fantastic women and men whose place over there I would not want to take, it needs to be the most important news we have. Everything needs to be done to keep their morale high 'til we get them back home to us. Political stances don't mean jack when we're talking about our children's lives. Besides if we demand enough positive news, sooner or later they'd have to relay the good stuff. -Senator Bob Dole Foreword WHERE THE BIRDS NEVER SING by Jack Saccon (a must read) Dole said it in a nutshell! We have to win this war. I think the reason that "the surge is working" isn't getting more coverage is due to a combination of two factors. The first is that there isn't enough evidence yet to prove that it is in fact working, and second, many people are hesitant about getting too confident because of the false positives of the past. Maybe this is a good sign. It's kind of like in the stock market...when everyone says sell, it's usually time to buy. I don't think the suggestion that many people want this war to fail is accurate. I'm sure there are some who put political aspirations above all...and those people will go nowhere anyway...but most people (even those who don't agree with the war or support Bush) want to see the war be successful. one month hardly proves a history of decline. The administration has been completely truthful from beginning to end.Yes.. and we didn't find WMDs, connections to al-queda, etc because ??? We know they lied.. the admit to giving Americans false information (more or less).. Stop taking drugs, it's warping your reality... WMDs - Weapons of Mass Deception |
