The mission statement of the ACLU states: The mission of the ACLU is to preserve all of these protections and guarantees: Your First Amendment rights - freedom of speech, association and assembly; freedom of the press, and freedom of religion. I wonder what changed? Let's see: Pledge of Allegiance. Down. Public Prayer. Down 2 down, only a few more to go. Well, haven't they always?? This isn't a surprise. But ya know what? I can stand in a pubic place and still say a prayer...and the ACLU can't hear me but my God does! Poor America...the down-ward spiral continues and we all know it. :~( Uh, excuse me. But the Cobb County Commission is a government body. And the Constitution clearly states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". To allow religious prayers during government sessions is akin to them endorsing that religion, over another (Or lack thereof) And to allow that is Bigotry. The ACLU isn't telling them they can't pray to their chosen god. They are just saying, they can't do it in a governmental role. Plain and simple. As for the 'Pledge of Allegiance' comment by Napster there. It's not the pledge they are after (Though I can see why they would, forcing kids to bear allegiance before the... It is wholly inadequate for any other." -John Adams Here's another newsflash- They are making exceptions all over the place for those of the muslim faith, while taking away those of christians. |
