i totally fail at this...every step of the way.

On my old computer, still dormant after a move, I have mail dating back to about '95. May the email gods have mercy on me.

Gmail has saved me from the email deluge. I track more than a few lists, and the incoming mail notifications finally reached a fever pitch.

With gmail, I can automatically tag and archive these messages BEFORE they show up in my inbox and cause the notification popup.

Since only mail from people I care about shows up in my inbox, it's not too bad to keep on top of it. Personally, I don't worry about archiving everything - if it's marked read, it's basically invisible to me.
