Pathetic. The richest country on the planet and we can't even provide a basic need. Good old Us of A All for one and all for one. If the program fails it will be the fault of those who voted to extend the insurance to children of people who make over $80,000 a year. Funny how $80,000 a year is poor when it comes to socialized medicine, but rich when it comes to taxes. Australians regard the provision of free medical services as a right. The rich, with insurance, go to the front of the queues. Public hospitals are not as effective because they lack staff, and every time nurses or other staff try to improve their conditions and salaries, the govt craps all over them. It is still a great system in most ways. The dirty secret that the media isn't really covering here is that the program already covers those making twice the poverty rate. Bush wasn't against increasing the program cap (if I remember right up to 2.5 times the poverty rate), but the legislation he vetoed covers those making four times the poverty rate. So this bill had little to do with insuring poor children (who were already covered), but more to do with increasing the government roll in socialized medicine. The sad part is that the democrats are willing to let the poor children go without any health care rather than compromise their plans for socialized medicine by trying to reach an agreement with the president. It is nothing but pure politics. so the eleventy-million-jillion-kazillion people in the US who have no health insurance will increase. We drive by dead bodies in the streets. We see dead children who are dying from measles and mumps and whooping cough. Lepers overrun the hospitals. Those with maggot infested wounds are common-place. Its just some hysterical political stunt by Democrats who really really really want to talk about something other than the fact that they want America to lose the war in Iraq, lose the war in Afganistan, and lost the war on terror. So pose away. The only posers in the comments on this clip are n2sooners (nice loss to Colorado by the way) and coloradowrong. This was a bipartisan bill not only supported by republicans in Congress but by republican governors also. The nonpartisan congressional budget office studied the issue and indicated that Bush's proposal underfunds Schip by $9 billion dollars. That's compassionate conservatism for you. Conservatives can't spare $35 billion dollars for childen's healthcare but they can waste $145 billion on missile defense systems that won't work, $45 billion on a fence that isn't going to keep illegal aliens out, and $600 billion to $1 trillion on a war built on lies. @Coloradoright "We drive by dead bodies in the streets. We see dead children who areMan, that's bad. What city do you live in? I wanna steer clear of it. — Comment removed by moderator — Did we just out a Republican troll? Australians regard the provision of free medical services as a right.Free huh? Does that mean you make New Zealand pay for it? |
