A great idea! We have these gardens in Boston that are giant blocks of land divided into small pieces. People rent or pay for one of the divisions and create their own garden. But there's not enough land. This is a really great compromise and a unique solution....plus all of the other benefits above!

You are lucky to live in Boston - I think Boston is a great "green-friendly" progressive city. I have heard a lot about their community gardens - but I did not know that they were short on land. Hopefully rooftop gardens will catch on in Boston and here in Maryland!
