Too bad - for the church. ...More of the same? Religion easily has the best bullshit story of all time. Think about it. Religion has convinced people that there’s an invisible man…living in the sky. Who watches everything you do every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a list of ten specific things he doesn’t want you to do. And if you do any of these things, he will send you to a special place, of burning and fire and smoke and torture and anguish for you to live forever, and suffer, and burn, and scream, until the end of time. But he loves you. He loves you. He loves you and he needs money.George Carlin I'm back and forth on this one. It sends off warning signals about the separation of church and state in my brain, but having worked at a non-profit, I know that some very worthwhile organizations struggle simply because they're religiously affiliated. Many of the faith based initiatives have enabled people to do good for poor, hungry, and disabled people. I too am on the fence. Though I really do worry for the churches when they start relying on government funds. No one's concerned for his (partial) support for hiring and firing based on one's faith? |
