msujason08 says: And yet we persist in our belief... Some people of religion safely and effectively practice there faith. Pleas continue to keep in mind that, although religion itself may be a very negative thing, in general, the adherents are doing what they think works for them. I am seeing the condemnation of religious people because of religious extremist. It's sad. There is a difference between religion and faith. Those who hold faith are not the problem. It is those who espouse religion as a tool of self-glorification who are, in general, the problem. @BartendingBear We might be splitting hairs, but religious faith IS the problem. It negates, to an extent, reason. It allows for immoral acts in the name of a religion as if that makes it good. The Rev stated: "I am seeing the condemnation of religious people because of religious extremist." True. But the extremists are usually following the letter of their faith! It's the peaceful one's who aren't! The peaceful ones have learned to take their scriptures with a grain of salt, and not apply literal meaning to immoral passages. ( They are less faithful to the word of their scripture. ) The "truly faithful", the ones who actually believe their scriptures are from a god, take the scriptures... This , i believe, is very misleading While I understand your point and in general agree with you, Aces, give me a man of quiet inner-faith not dancing to religious dogma as opposed to an active dogmatic believer any day. "...give me a man of quiet inner-faith not dancing to religious dogma as opposed to an active dogmatic believer any day.I definitely agree. They are two different breeds. This , i believe, is very misleadingI try not to be ambiguous. In what way am I being misleading? Or were you talking about the article itself? |
